Life Beyond Cancer (LBC) is a four-day retreat for women cancer survivors, social workers and oncology nurses focusing on the many components of advocacy and wellness through and beyond the cancer experience. Besides having a meaningful personal experience, participants learn through a variety of workshops, lectures and group activities. This will challenge and enable them to return to their communities to begin or support existing services and advocacy programs.

Here's what past participants have to say about their experience:

"I had the incredible opportunity to attend Life Beyond Cancer in 2001. It was a life-changing experience that motivated me 1) professionally as a registered nurse; 2) personally as a breast cancer survivor; and 3) politically as a volunteer and advocate for cancer care needs in my own rural community."

"Life Beyond Cancer changed my life drastically. Before attending the LBC 2003 Retreat, I was a lost soul. While there I was transformed; I stopped feeling sorry for myself and decided to renew. I found myself- the strong part of me that was robbed by cancer. I also found that cancer didn't rob me at all! It was more of an awakening of not giving up my life to cancer. I also found out how much I could help other people. I took my experience and went back to my community and started a support group and awareness organization."
